Rhonda's 2019 Challenge

Thank you for visiting my fundraising page. This year I will reach my goal of raising $100,000 for cancer research by running a half marathon in all 50 states!

Over the past 14 years, I have run half marathons in 48 states. Thanks to your generous donations, my fundraising total has reached $91,700!

My final two half marathons are in Bend, Oregon on April 20, and then Jackson Hole, Wyoming on June 8. With just 2 states to go, I'd love your support to help me raise just $10,000 to hit my ultimate goal.

My selected charity beneficiary is Gateway for Cancer Research. Gateway’s mission is to shape a world in which a cancer diagnosis is no longer feared. Their focus is to fund clinical cancer research trials that benefit today’s cancer patients – helping them to live longer, feel better and be cured of their disease today. These trials will also help create better treatments for future cancer patients. Importantly, 99 cents of every dollar Gateway receives goes directly to funding clinical trials, so you can feel good that your tax-deductible donation is working hard.

It's been 17 years since I heard the words no one wants to hear: "you have cancer." After 12 months of treatment, which included chemotherapy, radiation and a stem cell transplant, I was cured of my disease. I participated in a clinical trial just like the ones that Gateway funds, and because of that trial, I am living a healthy, cancer-free life with very few long-term side effects.

As I close in on reaching my goals, I stay motivated by running on behalf of friends and family who have bravely fought their own battles with cancer. While many more people survive this disease today, we still lose far too many loved ones to cancer. Your donation to Gateway for Cancer Research will make a big impact and help shape a future of better treatments and more cures.

Many thanks for your continued support!

Rhonda
